It has been a long time since I updated. I have been pretty busy, and getting around Long Island without a car is not very easy. If I could ride my bike, it would not be a problem, but I can not walk long distances without a cane.... so riding my bike is out of the question. After I am done with physical therepy, it will be kind of cold to ride. (Not that temperature has ever stopped me from doing my 20 miles).

School starts again soon. I am taking Honors Latin, Honors American Politics, Honors Intro to Psych, Intro to Social Welfare, and Principle Biology. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will maintain my 4.0 GPA. I am also hoping that this will be the semester that the Progressive Students Union gets off the ground. Last semester was a disaster, and the advisors seem ready to give up. I have been thinking of some new ideas and hope to present them to the prospective advisors.

My friend sent me a few pictures from the festival at the temple:

That is me with my two teachers. The one on the left is Maha Anake. He speaks English the best out of all the monks, and is my primary teacher. He is also the youngest at that temple. I am also close with the one on the right (who was on the tractor in an earlier entry). Maha Anake is a very busy monk who is often out of town, either teaching or going to other temples to help or instruct monks. When he is not there, I talk to the other monk. I don't know how to spell his name though.

That's me and Lisa. We are doing very well, by the way. :)

That's me and my friend Cory. He is away at basic training right now. He joined the US Navy.

Lisa and I were in an accident Monday. Some guy ran a red light, and hit us. We landed next to the beginning of the overpass. The metal fence had already been broken from another accident, and was facing inward. When I went past it, it stabbed me in my shoulder leaving four puncture marks. I also hit my head, suffered a concussion, and a hit my knee (it now clicks and locks).

We landed on a guardrail, with only the back left side of the car touching the ground. Lisa had to jump from the guardrail, which likely messed her up more. I went out the window, since my door was broken. I walked a few feet, touched my head, saw the blood- then passed out. When I came to, Lisa was holding me.

Apparently, out of aderenaline and love... Lisa ignored her pain to comfort me. Once I got help, they noticed Lisa's chest was very sensative to the touch. The rushed her to trauma, where she went into shock and her blood pressure dropped. She has bruising and swelling in her abdomen, ribs, and sternum.

I went to the temple today. I took two pics, but accidentally deleted one. The one I deleted was very nice. My teacher, Ajahn Anake had hung one of his robes on a tree. Behind it was the grassy field and the white flowers. It was truly beautiful watching it blow in the wind.

The second picture was less profound:

Ajahn Anake travels a lot (he teaches and helps other temples). He just got back from Washington D.C. after helping the monks there set up a celebration and ceremony for the birthday of King Rama IX. Two monks had come back with him to our temple. They took some pictures of the new temple we are building, as well as the current one. I was talking to one of them- who was very nice- and before he left he instructed me to keep practicing meditation and soon I will become aware. Then he reached into his bag and fitted this bracelet around my wrist.

Before I left to go to work, Ajahn Anake and I were talking. He told me that the temple in Washington had been flooded quite badly, and look bad. It seems it's going to take a lot of money and labor to fix it.

Bill O'Reilly is known to use logical fallacies and distortions. Being it is his show, he has the right to do so, but his show is not a "no-spin zone" nor is it "fair and balanced."

Anyway, so I had the displeasure of running into the Long Island native on the streets of Manhattan. Things got a bit out of hand. He mumbled something about "secular", and then threatened to have the producers "cut my mic." When I told him I was not wearing a mic, he assured me I was. "An overwhelming percent of Americans agree that you are wearing a mic, and that 2+2=5."

I had to act quick. I believe I made the right choice.
